What Timber Builds do.

We build bespoke timber framed buildings, we take care of everything.

Cladding Options Available

Roofing Shingles

Roofing Shingles are leightweight, glass fibre-based kitumen strip slates. They are available in black, brown, green, red and slate grey. The shingles have an estimated lifespan of 25-30 years, and also come with a product guarantee from the manufacturer over this period.

The Shingles Require zero maintenance, as they are non-rotting glass-fibre based.

Siberian Larch

Siberian Larch is a naturally durable timber (class 3), the resins and extracts in the wood create a high resistance to decay and rot. Siberian larch is one of the most durable softwoods available as the lifespan can achieve between 30-50 years, better performance can only be achieved with cedar or modified timber.

The timber does not require any maintenance due to the natural durability. Though it is recommended to apply UV protection oil to prevent changes in the wood.

THERMO wood is modified timber using Finnish grown redwood and has achieved a durability rating of 2, this allows a long lifespan of 30+ years without the requirements for further treatment. The heat modification process enhances the stability of the timber, so it is unlikely to twist or warp.

The timber does not require any further treatment. Though if left to weather naturally it will turn a silver / grey shade. To protect the coating on site, use a UV protection oil like OSM 420D, this will prevent the timber from changing colour.

Cedar when used as external cladding is one of the world’s most durable cladding, with an expected 60 year plus lifespan. The timber due to its natural properties is unlikely to twist or warp.

The timber requires no treatment due to its natural resistence to moisture decay and insect damage. Though will require to be oiled once a year to prevent the beautiful red colour from turning to a shade of silver.

Insulation Options

Knauf Glasswool

A timber frame roll range for high performance glass mineral wool. It is strong, resilient and flexible. It provides an excellent thermal performance, reducing heat loss throughout the building and has an A1 Euroclass fire rating.

A polystyrene based insulation. This insulation is a great alternative and will require slightly more thickness to meet the recommended insulation properties (typically 15mm for every 10mm kingspan).

Kingspan is a premium insulation and the market leader for high performance rigid insulation products. It is a vacuum insulated panel, perfect for insulating flooring, walls and other cavities.
